Future-Proof Your Day With Ruchi Page

Meet Ruchi Page. A major fan of dewy skin, fries with pasta, dramatic makeup and advocating for inclusion and confidence. She's also a Digital Creator, columnist and beauty enthusiast that definitely knows her stuff. Ready for her beauty tips and SPF hacks?

So, what’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
The first thing I do is my morning routine, SPF and coffee. Then it’s time for checking my plan for the day/week and start ticking the boxes of my ‘to do’ list.

What does your AM skincare routine look like?
I cleanse with a gentle gel based or mousse cleanser to wake up my skin. I then choose an eye cream that illuminates or refreshes my under eye area (the secret to looking like you actually had 8 hours of sleep), then I layer a Vitamin C and/or Hyaluronic Acid serum. My final steps are always a hydrator (moisturiser) AND my Ultra Violette Queen Screen or Supreme Screen. No ifs or buts on that step.

What’s your go-to breakfast at the moment?
I am a little cheeky, but coffee has been my go to breakfast (I know, I know). BUT in saying that, I can never turn down a nutrient dense smoothie, with 1 banana, a handful of spinach, greens powder, almond milk and blueberries. Breakfast perfection.

How do you remember to reapply throughout the day?
Some may call me high maintenance, I prefer the term; Sun Smart. I set reminders on my phone to keep my skin in check. As soon as I apply the sunscreen, I set the reminder. Simple! (Alarms work too).

Any great SPF hacks?
For reapplication over makeup, I love using a damp beauty sponge or a dense rounded foundation brush to press a serum texture SPF like Queen Screen onto the skin. This doesn’t disrupt your makeup, rather it adds luminosity AND Sun protection. (Thank me later).
Queen Screen is also fabulous as a luminous, makeup primer. Especially for dryer skin types.

What’s the biggest myth you’ve heard about sunscreen?
The biggest myth I’ve heard about sunscreen is that people with deeper complexions do not need to wear it. I believed this tale for most of my life unfortunately. SPF is necessary for all complexions, it is what protects our skin from potential, severe health issues caused by the UVA and UVB rays and a deeper skin colour is not going to be the barrier against these rays. Regardless of skin tone, slip slop slap!

Best beauty tip you’ve ever heard—go.
The best beauty tip I’ve ever heard is transforming your shiny lipstick to matte with loose powder. It’s a two in one deal. Simply apply your favourite hydrating or satin finish lipstick. Grab a tissue and peel it so you’re left with a thin tissue and place it over your lips. Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, dust loose translucent powder of the tissue. This will immediately mattify your lip colour. Boom! No need to hunt down your favourite shiny lipstick in a matte formula.

How would you describe your feelings about Ultra Violette in 3 words?
Obsessed. Attached. Smitten.

What three things were you grateful for this morning?
Waking up. Almond lattes. My incredible partner.

We love your writing in Centennial Beauty, Mama Mia and Adore Beauty; what piece would you want everyone to check out after this?
You guys are so sweet, thank you so much! Faces of Australia on the Centennial Beauty website please.
